Sequoyah Students Author Mythic Stories
Several students at Sequoyah Elementary recently completed an enrichment unit during their TIES class about myths. Students learned that myths are stories that seek to explain how something in nature came to be. They read several myths in class and then were challenged to create their own. Each student wrote, typed and illustrated their own story. Some of the titles of their clever creations include: Riverbed's Curse, How the Sea Came to Be, Hera's Spell, Tears of Rain and Apollo's Medicine. Each story conveyed not only a mastery of the skills learned in class, but also imaginative characters and a unique plot. Once complete, the books were laminated and bound. Students shared their books with Ms. Fontaine's second grade class, then finished up the unit with a book reading celebration where parents and teachers were invited to hear them present their books, and celebrate their success on Thursday, March 15, 2018.
Our teachers are so innovative in the ways that they teach our students and we are so proud of the creativity displayed!
