Shawnee Teacher of the Year Nominees Announced
Ceremony Slated for Feb. 4
Eight Shawnee Public Schools educators with a combined total of 95 years of teaching experience have been nominated by their respective school sites for Teacher of the Year 2020.
The nominees will be honored at a ceremony scheduled for Feb. 4. This year's theme is "Celebration of Excellence."
Cassie Flora is a kindergarten teacher at Shawnee Early Childhood Center. She has 11 years of teaching experience, all with Shawnee Public Schools.
Shannon Tiger is a first grade teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School. She has 27 years of teaching experience.
Leslie Gothard is a library media specialist at Jefferson Elementary School. She has taught for 23 years.
Lydia Hodges is a fourth grade teacher at Sequoyah Elementary School. This is her fourth year of teaching and her fourth year at Sequoyah.
Whitney White is a third grade teacher at Will Rogers Elementary School. She has seven years of teaching experience, all with Shawnee Public Schools.
Andrew McCune teaches seventh grade geography at Shawnee Middle School. He has three years of teaching experience, all at Shawnee Middle School.
Linsey Mastin is an English teacher at Shawnee High School. This is her fourth year of teaching.
Melisa King teaches science, film as literature, and business classes at Jim Thorpe Academy. She has 16 years of experience teaching.
