A Message from Your Principal

Dear Horace Mann Families,

I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal at Horace Mann Elementary. I am looking forward to serving the Horace Mann community by honoring the history of the school building and the community while encouraging our students to reach their full potential in academics, behavior, and citizenship.

This will be my fourth year in Shawnee Public Schools, my fourth year in school leadership, and my 16th year in education.  You may recognize me because I worked as a part-time assistant principal for Horace Mann during the 2021-2022 school year when my time was spent between Horace Mann and Jefferson.  Prior to my experience in school leadership, I was a classroom teacher where I taught kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade for a total of 12 years. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and my master’s degree from East Central University. 

The vision I have for Horace Mann is that it becomes a hub of our community where we can meet the needs of our students in a variety of ways and eliminate barriers to learning. Together, we will make data-driven decisions to meet the needs of every student and provide a high-quality education.  When we accomplish this together, all students will learn and grow. 

I welcome the opportunity to gain your support and your input.  Working together, we will see success, growth, and achievement from every Horace Mann student.

Horace Mann Elementary School serves students in grades 1-5. We believe in giving our students all the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond. Our teachers provide rigorous coursework in math, reading, STEM, art, music, physical education, and more. We are home to an afterschool program that provides many of our students STEM enrichment. Our small class sizes and closeknit school staff and students make many comment on how much they love visiting Horace Mann.

7:45 a.m. - First Class Begins

2:45 p.m. - Last Class Ends
