2017-18 SPS Teacher of the Year, Jayme Hutchcraft
Jayme Hutchcraft of Shawnee Middle School is the 2017-18 Shawnee Public Schools Teacher of the Year!
Jayme is in her 6th year of teaching, having spent all 6 years with Shawnee. She received her Bachelors degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and her Masters from East Central University. She teaches 7th grade Literature and English at the Middle School and says that she "Gets to teach the greatest students in the world; there are none better!".
Jayme is married to Andrew Hutchcraft and they have 2 sons, 4 year old Carson and 1 year old Clete, as well as a Boxer named Reba. In her free time she enjoys watching and attending sporting events as well as all of her children's activities. An item on her bucket list is to one day visit Ireland.
Her favorite part about being a teacher is the fact that it is always a new day, you must continually adapt and be flexible so you are never bored. A fun fact about Mrs. Hutchcraft is that she has been in Shawnee for 28 of her 30 years, attending Wilson Early Childhood, Sequoyah, SMS, and SHS. She was even in the first 8th grade class to graduate from the building she now teaches in!
We are so lucky to have Mrs. Hutchcraft with us and appreciate all that she does for Shawnee students!
