Student Investment Plan Election to be Postponed
Dear Shawnee Community,
Earlier this week, the Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax declared an election emergency for local elections being held in 74 counties on April 7 due to the COVID-19 state of emergency. Ziriax urged all entities with April 7 elections to take immediate action to reschedule and help efforts to flatten the COVID-19 curve.
As you know, information on COVID-19 can change hourly. Although canceling the election is left up to each local entity, I cannot in good faith move forward with the election. The health of our community is our top priority, and risking anyone’s life is simply not an option.
The Shawnee Public Schools Administration and Board of Education are working with the Pottawatomie County Election Board to look at rescheduling the election. Once we have more information, we will share it with you.
We know this is a time of great stress. Thank you for your continued patience, sacrifice, and support. Please continue to monitor your email and visit the District website and social media for updates. The health and safety of our Shawnee Public School students, employees, and community is always our top priority, and we will continue to work together to take good care of one another.
Respectfully,
April J. Grace, Ed. D
Superintendent
