A Message from Dr. April Grace, Nov. 13, 2020
November 13, 2020
Dear Shawnee Families,
As we head into the weekend and get closer to Thanksgiving Break, we want to inform you of some upcoming changes to our learning plan. Our regional/county health officials this week have confirmed the rise in positive cases across our state and county. While we have continued to experience a low number of positive cases in our school district, the rise in the state numbers in the last two weeks, the upcoming holiday gatherings, and the concerns of our health officials lead us to believe that a temporary change to our learning plan is in the best interest of student and staff safety.
For these reasons, we will move students attending school face to face to distance learning beginning on Wednesday, November 18, and they will stay in distance learning through December 4. This will allow families to monitor their health before and after gathering during the holiday and prior to returning to our schools. We will resume our regular schedule on December 7, allowing students two weeks to finish the fall semester before heading into Winter Break.
Your student will be expected to complete distance learning assignments during this temporary change in order to be counted present. Site principals will contact families with specific details regarding distance learning.
It is extremely important that at all times you wear face coverings in public, keep social distance as much as possible, monitor your and your family’s temperature, wash your hands frequently, sanitize routinely, and stay home when you are not feeling well. Thank you for your understanding as we take precautions for the safety of our students and staff.
Sincerely,
April Grace, Ed.D.
Superintendent
