A Message from Dr. April Grace, December 4, 2020
December 4, 2020
Dear Shawnee Families,
We have made it to the end of our distance learning time. We know moving to distance learning has created some obstacles for many of you, and we appreciate the cooperation you have given us as we keep our students and staff safe. We know our teachers miss their students and are ready to see them in person again soon.
In speaking with regional and county health officials this week, our county COVID-19 numbers are better than they have been the past week or so. This information along with the advice of our regional health officials means we will continue with our plan of returning to face-to-face learning on Monday, Dec. 7.
As a reminder we offer hybrid learning. With hybrid learning, a student attends school in person two or three days each week and uses the remaining days to complete schoolwork at home through SeeSaw or Canvas. This option allows us to have fewer students and, therefore, more distancing in the classroom. During this time, you may also choose for your student to continue distance learning for the last 10 days of the semester, Dec. 7-18. If you are interested in hybrid or distance learning for your student during the last two weeks of the semester, please contact your child’s principal to make arrangements. Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment for everyone.
Thank you for your support of our schools during this difficult time. For now, please continue to wear face coverings when in public or around others, remember to watch your distance, wash your hands frequently, and monitor the health of your family daily.
Sincerely,
April Grace, Ed.D.
Superintendent
