A COVID Update from Dr. April Grace, Jan. 28, 2022
January 28, 2022
Dear Shawnee Families,
This week we have seen a dramatic decline in the number of reported positive cases. We do want to remind you that we welcome face coverings in spaces where individuals feel they are necessary or where social distancing is not feasible. We will continue to offer COVID tests upon request. We will also continue to work hard to ensure our buildings and especially high-touch surface areas are cleaned and sanitized.
As stated in previous weeks, any adjustments in our learning plan will be handled on a site-by-site basis should we need to pivot to virtual learning as a result of staffing shortages or substantial increases in reported positive cases. As a reminder, the data provided is representative of the percentage of positive cases reflected in the reporting system at the time the letter is written.
As a reminder, our on-site health clinics can also test for flu and strep. Again, we do offer COVID testing upon request. If you or your student needs to be tested, please call (405) 273-6885 to set up an appointment. Please continue to consider wearing face coverings when social distancing is not feasible, wash your hands frequently, and monitor the health of your family daily. Thank you for your support in helping us create a safe learning environment in our schools.
Remember the percentage of positives by building are based on testing done with us, or information reported independently by a family. We encourage you to keep sick children home, monitor the health of your family daily, and report possible exposures/positive tests to our nursing staff. We remain committed to student and staff safety and will continue reviewing data, availability to cover classrooms, and all factors on a day-by-day basis while we work to make the next best decision with the information we have at the time.
Sincerely,
April Grace, Ed.D.
Superintendent
