Welcome to SPS Business Office
Welcome to Business Services
The mission of the business office is to lead and manage the financial and accounting needs of Shawnee Public Schools. Through careful budget planning and focused financial investments, the business office will balance the district’s goals and priorities with other guiding principles such as federal, state, and local regulations.
Priorities for this year’s budget include:
-
continued investment for educational success of our youngest students; funding 11 classes of full-day Pre-K and 12 classes of full-day Kindergarten;
-
commitment to value our educators by providing step raises and recognizing educational experience in and out of state;
-
focus on student’s success in literacy by investing in new K – 5 reading curriculum and professional development; and
-
collaborative and comprehensive approach to teaching and learning through the promotion of professional learning communities.
The district is also engaged in many capital improvement projects utilizing funds from recent bond issue elections. The projects include building secure entries at all sites, classroom upgrades at Horace Mann and Sequoyah, high school renovations, and improvements to athletic facilities. These projects and more, including building a new elementary school, will continue over the next few years.
As the district, stakeholders, and community cultivate our Continuous Strategic Improvement Plan, we will adjust budget planning and investments to align with the identified strategic goals and priorities generated through these processes.
