Shawnee Public Schools is proud to celebrate an outstanding achievement by the Shawnee High School Choir, which earned top honors at the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association State Solo & Ensemble Contest.
Competing against some of the best student vocalists in Oklahoma, Shawnee choir students brought home 10 Superior Ratings and 6 Excellent Ratings, the two highest honors awarded at the state level. A Superior Rating at State is considered the equivalent of a state championship, making this an extraordinary honor for the program.
Students earning Superior Ratings included soloists Ainsley Crane, Riley Chamblin, Cooper Dunn, Ferris Foresee, Chyanne Lowe, and Abigail Wade. Superior honors were also awarded to duet performances by Claudia Thomason and Margot Davidson, Aanyiah Lambert and Amaya Townes, and Riley Chamblin and Cooper Dunn, along with the Tenor Bass Ensemble, made up of Andrew Reynoso, Ferris Foresee, Cody Blanchard, and Matthew Hunt.
Students receiving Excellent Ratings included Ethan Anderson, Aanyiah Lambert, Sonja Price, Claudia Thomason, and Amaya Townes, as well as the Freshman Treble Ensemble, featuring Kylee Ingram, Kattie Sitton, Harley Swinford, Alicia Chotkey, Bellahanne Vereb, and Ruby Alley.
Under the leadership of choir director McKenzie Graves, Shawnee’s choir program continues to set a high standard for excellence. The students’ success at State reflects months of preparation, commitment, and a passion for performance that was showcased on one of Oklahoma’s biggest stages.
