Shawnee Public Schools is proud to recognize eight Shawnee High School students who have earned Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Awards from the College Board, honoring their outstanding academic achievement and success in college-level coursework.
The AP Scholar Awards recognize students who demonstrate exceptional performance on Advanced Placement exams, reflecting their commitment to academic excellence and college readiness.
Kiley Sartin earned the AP Scholar with Distinction award, the highest recognition among this year's recipients. This honor is awarded to students who earn scores of 3 or higher on at least five AP Exams while maintaining an average score of at least 3.5 across all AP Exams taken during high school.
Kimberly Albers, Cooper Dunn, and Grace Sturgell earned the AP Scholar with Honor award by achieving an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and earning scores of 3 or higher on four or more AP Exams.
Jun Gao, Colby Jones, Anthony Newsom, and Ian Peltier earned the AP Scholar award by receiving scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
"These students have challenged themselves by taking rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and their accomplishments reflect the dedication, perseverance, and academic excellence we strive to cultivate at Shawnee High School," said Shawnee High School Principal Bobby Cook. "We are incredibly proud of each of these students for earning recognition from the College Board."
Advanced Placement courses provide students the opportunity to engage in college-level curriculum while in high school, helping prepare them for postsecondary success and, in many cases, allowing them to earn college credit based on their exam performance.
