Shawnee Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Mike Dominguez as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent. His hiring was formally approved during the Shawnee Board of Education meeting held on August 4, 2025.
Dr. Dominguez brings with him more than 30 years of experience in education, including over two decades in district-level leadership roles. His career reflects a deep commitment to student success, staff development, and community engagement.
“Dr. Dominguez is a proven leader with a track record of building strong school cultures and driving academic excellence,” said Superintendent Dr. Jason James. “We are excited to welcome him to Shawnee and look forward to the impact he will have on our schools and community.”
Before stepping into district leadership, Dr. Dominguez spent 14 years as a classroom teacher and wrestling coach. He also served 11 years as a secondary principal and assistant principal, where he was known for his hands-on leadership and student-focused decision-making.
Dr. Dominguez holds a doctorate in educational leadership and a master’s degree in education administration from West Texas A&M University. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
