Shawnee Public Schools is proud to announce a series of ribbon cuttings celebrating major renovations at three elementary schools made possible through the 2024 bond passage. Thanks to the support of Shawnee voters, SPS was able to reallocate 8 million dollars originally designated for a new elementary school to critical upgrades across the district’s four elementary campuses.
This summer, Jefferson Elementary, Horace Mann Elementary, and Will Rogers Elementary underwent extensive improvements designed to enhance safety, functionality, and learning environments for students and staff. These projects build on district-wide initiatives, which have already included the installation of new intercom systems at elementary sites and the construction of a new safety vestibule at Shawnee Early Childhood Center.
To celebrate this community investment, SPS invites families, alumni, and community members to attend ribbon cutting ceremonies at each renovated site. Ribbon cuttings will begin at 4:00 PM on their respective days, followed by building tours where guests can see firsthand the improvements made possible by Shawnee’s commitment to its schools.
These events are presented in partnership with Shawnee Forward and serve as an opportunity to thank the citizens of Shawnee for their continued investment in the future of education in this community.
