Shawnee Public Schools hosted the first-ever Game Plan for Success, a new event designed to empower female students by connecting them with women in leadership from across the community.

Spearheaded by Shawnee High School Head Football Coach Jason Madonna and Shawnee High School Parent, Amanda Clements, the event was built around a simple but powerful idea: students thrive when they can see and hear from leaders who reflect their potential. Coach Madonna envisioned a space where young women could ask questions, gain guidance, and hear real-life stories from professionals who have navigated challenges and achieved success in their careers and communities.

Female leaders joined students in conversation, sharing advice, encouragement, and lessons learned through experience. The keynote address was delivered by Cheryl Hudgins, Director of Service Lines at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Shawnee, who spoke about leading with purpose, overcoming obstacles, and making a lasting impact on others.

The event was sponsored by First United Bank, whose support helped bring this vision to life.

“As educators, we know how important it is for students to see examples of leadership that they can relate to,” said Coach Madonna. “This event wasn’t just about motivation, it was about connection, mentorship, and helping students believe in what’s possible for their own futures.”

In the spirit of continued community engagement, Shawnee Public Schools invites everyone to attend the Powder Puff football games this Friday, May 2, at 6:00 PM at Jim Thorpe Stadium. This evening will feature female students taking the field while male students coach from the sidelines. All proceeds will benefit the Shawnee Pom Boosters and the Shawnee QB Club, two organizations that provide support to the student-athletes.

Come enjoy an evening of fun, friendly competition, and school spirit while supporting Shawnee students and the programs that lift them up.
