Shawnee Public Schools is proud to celebrate a great season for its basketball programs, as several Wolves and Lady Wolves student-athletes and coaches earn All-District and All-State recognitions for their performances.
The boys’ basketball team, led by Coach Chad Johnson, saw Aidon Siqueiros named to the 1st Team All-District, while Rah’Mel Slaughter earned 3rd Team All-District honors. For the Shawnee Lady Wolves, Coach Wendi Wells led her team through a season that produced numerous district accolades. Daley Rice was named Co-Offensive Player of the Year, and JaNya Bruner earned Newcomer of the Year. Both Rice and Bruner also secured 1st Team All-District honors, while Tarilyn Thierry and Karma Mason were selected for 3rd Team All-District, and Chrishelle Milum received honorable mention recognition.
The Lady Wolves program also celebrated state-level recognition by the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association (OGBCA). Coach Wendi Wells was named Regional Coach of the Year for the Large Southeast region, and Daley Rice earned All-State honors for the Large East 5A-6A division.
Athletic Director Dax Leone celebrated the achievements of the players and coaches, saying, “We are proud of our Wolves and Lady Wolves programs each year, but especially this season. The hard work, determination, and sportsmanship shown by our student-athletes and the leadership from Coaches Wells and Johnson truly represent the best of Shawnee athletics. These All-District and All-State honors are well-deserved recognition for their outstanding accomplishments on the court.”
These awards reflect the continued excellence of Shawnee’s basketball programs and the district’s dedication to supporting student-athletes both on and off the court.
