Shawnee High School students (grades 9-12) will have a virtual learning day on Friday, March 6.
We are honored to host the funeral of a long-time Shawnee resident, proud alum, and dedicated supporter of Shawnee Public Schools on our campus as our community gathers to remember a life that made a lasting impact.
Students will receive assignments from their teachers on Thursday. Friday’s work will count toward their grade.
Thank you for your understanding as we come together to support the family and honor this meaningful loss. 💙

Shawnee Public Schools stood on the steps of the Oklahoma State Capitol for National Public Schools Week, joining public education leaders and advocates from across our state to celebrate and support public schools.
Our students didn’t just attend; they represented. Shawnee High School student Jade Valentine addressed the crowd from the Capitol steps, reinforcing that student voices belong in conversations about education. Wolves Pom, Cheer, and Pride of the Pack performed with pride, and Jim Thorpe Academy students showcased the work happening at their site.
Thank you to Representative Dell Kerbs for welcoming our students, providing a Capitol tour, and inviting them onto the House floor to experience the legislative process.
Public schools are the backbone of our communities. This week was a reminder that advocacy matters, and our Wolves were proud to stand in support of public education across Oklahoma.

While the snow was falling outside, our Horace Mann Elementary, Shawnee, OK students were busy creating a Reading Blizzard of their own!
In December and January, students read an incredible 4,162 stories with Amira! That’s not just impressive; that’s wolf-pack dedication!
🏆 Top Class Award: Mrs. Hopper’s Class
🏆 Top Teacher Award: Mrs. Hopper
As part of their celebration, Mrs. Hopper’s class will foster Spot, Amira’s canine companion, for the entire month of February!
By fostering Spot, they promise to:
✨ Keep him company
✨ Let him watch them learn
✨ Keep him safe
✨ Read with joy so he always feels loved
Each student also received a Spot keychain and sticker to remember their big accomplishment!
We are so proud of every Horace Mann student who helped turn winter weather into a Reading Blizzard!
Way to read, Wolves! 🐺💙

Join us in congratulating Jacque Knight on being named the Shawnee Public Schools Child Nutrition Support Employee of the Year!
Jacque has found a simple, yet powerful, way to bring even more positivity into the cafeteria. Through encouragement, high expectations, and a little sparkle of fun, she’s helping students focus on manners, responsibility, and making great choices each day.
What makes Jacque special isn’t just what she does, it’s why she does it. She genuinely wants to be a positive part of our students’ lives. She understands that a smile, a kind word, or simply noticing a child can make all the difference.
This isn’t just a job for Jacque, it’s a chance to impact kids every single day.
👏 Thank you, Jacque, for the care, energy, and encouragement you bring to our Wolf family!

Join us in congratulating Blanche McVey on being named the Shawnee Public Schools Transportation Support Employee of the Year! Blanche has faithfully served our district for 30 years, a true example of dedication and consistency. She very rarely takes a day off and goes above and beyond in caring for her bus, keeping it clean and welcoming far beyond expectations. But what truly sets Blanche apart is her heart. 💙 She supports her students well beyond the route, attending their games and activities whenever she can, just as faithfully as she shows up for her own grandchildren’s events. For Blanche, it’s never just about transportation, it’s about relationships. 👏 Thank you, Blanche, for three decades of commitment, care, and Wolf pride. Our students are better because of you! #ShawneeStrong #GoWolves
